ex) What is 20% of 30? - Find what percent something is

ex) 74 out of 98 people like chips, what percentage is this? - Find a total

ex) There are 203 boys in a school, 52% of the students in the school are boys, how many students are there total? - Increase or decrease a number by a certain percent
- Determine what percentage increase or decrease a change is

ex) Bob earned $200 last night and $260 tonight, what percent did his earnings increase? - Add markup and tax to prices
- Subtract discounts from prices
- Determine what tax, markup or discount rate is if you know the original and final price
